For a while, now, there have been several complaints and concerns raised about the kind of choreography and dance steps that are being composed in Telugu Cinema. On top of the list, we have Nandamuri Balakrishna’s Dabidi Dibidi song from Daaku Maharaj.
There were several complaints about the choreography that was designed between Balayya and Urvashi Rautela in this problematic video song. Many people felt that there were problematic gestures of Balayya and Urvashi in the song.
Incidentally, the Telangana women commission has taken serious offence to this song and called out the kind of choreography and objectification of women in the same.
“The Telangana State Women’s Commission has recently received several complaints that the dance steps used in some film songs are obscene and demeaning to women. The Commission has responded seriously to this issue. Since cinema is a powerful medium that has an impact on society, elements that insult or show women indecently in it are a cause for serious concern,” the statement read.
The commission asked for the reason to have so much obscenity and demeaning shade on women in a popular medium like cinema. They had a pretty strong message in this context and called out the concerned makers for the same.
For a while now, there have been several suggestions that Telugu Cinema must largely change the way it is choreography, video songs and the same is getting reinstated with this incident now.
