After Kantara, Yash's 'Toxic' Under Forest Department Radar!
This issue came to light when Karnataka Forest Minister Eshwar B Khandre revealed that a show-cause notice had been issued to the filmmakers.
The recent controversy surrounding the filming of "Kantara: Chapter 1" in Karnataka's forests has cast a shadow over another Kannada film, "Toxic." The makers of "Toxic" are facing scrutiny from the Forest Department for allegedly illegally felling trees on forest land during the film's shoot.
This issue came to light when Karnataka Forest Minister Eshwar B Khandre revealed that a show-cause notice had been issued to the filmmakers. The minister expressed concern over the filmmakers' misrepresentation of forest land status in an Interlocutory Application filed with the Supreme Court in 2020. He also criticized their attempt to obtain denotification approval without proper Cabinet permission.
Minister Khandre had previously visited the site in October 2024 and witnessed the extent of the illegal tree-cutting. He emphasized the seriousness of the violation and vowed to pursue strict legal action against those responsible.
"Toxic," directed by Geetu Mohandas and produced by Yash himself, is one of the most anticipated Kannada films. The recent release of the film's teaser, showcasing Yash in a bold and unconventional avatar, has generated significant excitement among fans. However, this controversy threatens to overshadow the film's release, which is currently scheduled for December 2025.
