APJ Abdul Kalam will always been remembered as one of the greatest Indians and a people's president.

10 Milestones of APJ Abdul Kalam:

1) Born in Rameswaram (Tamilnadu) on Octorber 15th, 1931. He was named as Avul Pakir Jainulabdeen Abdul Kalam.

2) Graduated in Physics from Saint Joseph's College (Tiruchirappalli) in 1954.

3) Obtains Aeronautical Engineering degree from Madras Institute of Technology in 1960.

4) His transfer from DRDO to ISRO happened in the year 1969.

5) Under the stewardship of Abdul Kalam, India entered space in 1980 with Satellite Launch Vehicle (SLV-III) which put Rohini satellite in the near earth orbit.

6) Abdul Kalam worked as the chief of the Integrated Guided Missile Development Programme for a decade. He was instrumental in development of Agni & Prithvi missiles.

7) Between 1992-1999, Kalam worked as chief Scientific Advisor to PM and Secretary of DRDO.

8) With Abdul Kalam as chief, Pokhran II Nuclear Tests were conducted in May 1998.

9) From 1999 to 2001, Kalam worked as Principal Scientific Advisor to Indian Government.

10) Abdul Kalam became 11th President of India in 2002 and his term ended in 2007.
