12000 complaints over Jagan's plan to form new districts

Update: 2022-03-10 11:50 GMT
YS Jagan Mohan Reddy's ambitious plan to carve out every Lok Sabha constituency into a district, appears to have caused more problems than it solved. There is widespread resentment over several decisions and there are complaints galore that this could actually prove more problematic.

Quite surprisingly, over 12000 complaints and objections have been received in response to the notification issued by the AP Government.

A majority of the complaints are from Prakasam, Nellore, Chittoor, Kadapa and Krishna district.  Most of these districts are YSRPC's strongholds. The maximum number of complaints are from Kadapa, Jagan's home district.

One major complaint is about making Rayachoti the district headquarters for the Annayamma district. Similarly, there were many appeals for making Rajampet as the district headquarters of Annamayya district.  There were also several demands for separate districts for Madanapalle, Rajampet, Markapuram and Hindupur.

Interestingly, the government has got time till March 15 to prepare reports on the basis of the complaints. Based on these objections, the government is likely to take a final call on the issue. Later, gazettes would be issued on the formation of the districts.
