6 Lakh Beers Sold Daily In Hyderabad In Hot Summer!

Update: 2023-04-19 12:40 GMT
Alcohol sales is one of the major revenue-generating areas in state revenue. They hold a big share in this and this is the reason why the governments ease the operating times of the wine shops. As a result, liquor sales see big milestones during festivals and other seasons.

States like Telangana are among the regions with the highest excise revenue. Earlier, we have seen how liquor sales set new records during the Dasara season. Yet again, the state recorded high numbers in liquor sales. Beer sales raised many eyeballs.

As per the information, as many as one crore beer bottles were sold in Hyderabad in just 17 days. 17 days into April, around 1.01 crore beer bottles were sold. Three districts hold the lion's share of sales with 8,46,175 cases of beer. On average 6 lakh beer bottles are sold in Hyderabad daily.

We are already in the summer season and the temperature is quite hot. This might be the reason behind the massive spike in beer sales. One beer case consists of 12 bottles and 8,46,175 cases translating to over one crore beers.

Hyderabad, Rangareddy and Medchal districts are the three regions that recorded big sales of beer. The sales of Beer are so high that they are higher than the sales recorded in March. In just 17 days, April surpassed the sales in February and March.

The summer heat will be at its peak in May and we can expect the sales of beer and liquor to reach even higher. Alcohol lovers prefer drinking beer to beat the heat and this results in sales getting higher.

The Ranga Reddy district recorded the highest sale with over 5 lakh cases, while 3,68,569 cases were sold in Hyderabad followed by the Medchal district with 92,078 cases.

It has to be mentioned here that the wine shop timings were changed earlier and the shops can function till 10 PM. As the operating times of the shops have increased, the sales are also increasing regularly and the excise department is attracting big income due to the sales. The timings were changed due to the Covid impact. The Excise Department in August said that the shops can function from 10 am to 11 pm.
