The ongoing Hijab controversy is taking new and unexpected twists at regular intervals. Having started off as a controversy in Bharatiya Janata Party(BJP)-ruled Karnataka, the issue slowly made its way to other states as well. The Mulsim students at the respective institutions were asked to remove Hijab or go back.
Giving a new twist to the tale, an actor was arrested by the Karnataka state cops after he is said to have made objectionable comments against a Judge at the High Court. The Judge is a member of the division bench which is dealing with the set of petitions that were filed over the Hijab controversy.
Jumping into the details, actor Chetan Kumar, who is popular by the name Chetan Ahimsa was reportedly arrested by the police as a suo moto case was filed against the actor for the alleged comments he made against the Judge. The case is said to have been registered under 505 (2) and 504 of the IPC.
Earlier last week, the actor had re-tweeted the tweet he had tweeted a couple of years back. In the tweet, he had raised a few objections over High Court Justice Krishna Dixit granting bail to a rape accused. The actor had called out the misogyny of justice.
As the Judge who granted the bail for the rape accused is also dealing with the Hijab issue, he had retweeted the tweet and in the caption, Chetan asked if Justice Dixit has the required clarity or not?
"This is a tweet I wrote nearly two years ago regarding a Karnataka High Court decision. Justice Krishna Dixit made such disturbing comments in a rape case. Now this same judge is determining whether #hijabs are acceptable or not in govt schools. Does he have the clarity required?" Chetan Kumar said while retweeting the old tweet.
