After targeting several Chandrababu acolytes, now the ruling YSRCP is trying to target the followers of Chandrababu's brother-in-law and actor Nandamuri Balakrishna. Several of his close followers and supporters in politics are now being wooed. The first wicket to fall is that of former MLA Kadiri Baburao. Baburao was the ex- MLA of Kanigiri in Prakasam district and considered to be quite close to Balayya Babu.
Babu Rao has recently resigned from the TDP and has joined the YSRCP. His departure has sent shockwaves in the TDP and the leaders are too shell-shocked to even comment on this development. Even Balakrishna has kept mum. Baburao secured TDP ticket in 2014 only due to Balakrishna's intervention and firm recommendation. He had contested and won the election that year. In 2019, he was given Darsi seat, which he had lost. Since then, he has been keeping a low profile.
What is baffling the TDP ranks is that Baburao had time and again said that for him friendship with Balayya Babu was more important than positions of power. Such diehard fan ditching Balayya Babu has ranked the TDP cadres. Sources say that Chandrababu is viewing this seriously and feels that Balayya Babu hasn't done enough to stop Babu Rao.
