After Komatireddy, will it be the turn of Marri Sasidhar Reddy to join BJP?
After Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy, another big wicket is set to fall in the Congress party. Congress veteran Marri Sasidhar Reddy is all set to join the BJP. Marri Sasidhar Reddy met BJP strongman and union home minister Amit Shah in New Delhi on Friday. Earlier, he held a meeting with Telangana BJP president Bandi Sanjay and national vice-president DK Aruna.
Sasidhar Reddy is from a dyed-in-the-wool Congress family. His grandfather KV Ranga Reddy was a minister and Rangareddy district is named after him. Sasidhar Reddy's father Marri Chenna Reddy was the chief minister of undivided Andhra Pradesh and is credited to have unseated legendary NTR in elections.
Sasidhar Reddy was considered quite close to the Nehru family and was made the chief of National Disaster Management, which is a cabinet rank post. He has contested and won from Sanatnagar assembly constituency. However, he was denied a ticket in the 2018 elections due to which he has been keeping a low profile.
Sources say that Sasidhar Reddy will soon hold a meeting with his supporters and workers and formally announce his joining of the BJP. He is likely to hold a public meeting in Hyderabad and would join the party in the presence of BJP national president JP Nadda.
