In a shocking incident, An Air India flight caught fire while landing at the Delhi international airport on Monday at around 8.30 pm.
AI405 Flight experienced hydraulic leak mid-air and subsequently made an emergency landing. The fire was observed near the nose wheel of the Varanasi to Delhi flight during the landing at runway No.27 at the IGI Airport.
159 People were onboard the Air India Aircraft. Soon after making an emergency landing, All the passengers were evacuated and taken to the terminal building. About 3-4 passengers sustained minor injuries in the incident. No flights were allowed to take off or land at Runway No.27 for many hours. The passengers were offered dinner and measures were taken to ensure they were comfortable.
A major disaster was averted with the presence of mind of the pilots and anything could have happened if the landing was delayed even for few minutes.
