Update: 2017-07-10 09:53 GMT
As part of the cost-cutting measure, Air India has decided to serve only Vegetarian Food in Domestic Flights. Non-Veg Meals in the National Carrier is going to be a thing of the past.

Air India claims to have taken this move to reduce the wastage, cost & improve catering service. The only reprise would be that Business Class Passengers will be served their choice of food, Veg or Non-Veg.

In December 2015, Air India introduced Veg-only rule for flights with travelling time 90 minutes. And now, The same rule has been applied to all flights irrespective of the duration. Other reason behind the decision is the fact that majority of the Passengers are health conscious and they prefer mostly vegetarian meals. It's because of this reason Non-Veg Meal boxes have been getting wasted.

As per an estimate, Air India is spending Rs 8 crore per year on Non-Veg Meals.
