From the next academic year, the Andhra Pradesh government is set to introduce English medium from standard first to standard eight in government schools. In subsequent years, it will be extended to cover the ninth and tenth standards as well. Teachers will be trained to teach in English and new teachers to be recruited based on tests for their proficiency in English.
The Commissioner of School Education shall take efforts to implement Telugu or Urdu as a compulsory subject depending on the current medium of instruction in the schools.
