Now it turns out that the whole hulabaloo about Amaravati capital is an agitation limited to just 28 villages around Amaravati. Beyond these villages, there is no agitation whatsoever either in Vijayawada or in Guntur. This has come as a shocker for the TDP.
The TDP felt that the people would rise up and oppose shifting of the capital from Amaravati. But, this has not happened. Despite massive publicity given by the pro-TDP yellow media and despite the propaganda unleashed by the TDP, the agitation did not extend beyond the 29 villages. Initially, the TDP had organized some protests in Krishna and Guntur district, but all those have cooled down. The agitation is limited to the 29 villages. Also, a large number of TDP leaders are now keeping away from the agitation.
The biggest problem for the TDP is that the leaders in north coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema have fallen completely silent. But, one constant refrain in all this is turning out to be very troublesome for Chandrababu Naidu. Many TDP leaders are questioning as to why Chandrababu Naidu has confined himself to Hyderabad. He should come here and lead the agitation, say many TDP leaders. So, at the end of the day, Amaravati protests are fast becoming non-starters.
