Another Setback to Rahul Gandhi In Defamation Case!

Update: 2023-04-20 15:10 GMT
Rahul Gandhi is an aggressive critic of the Bharatiya Janata Party and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He never misses an opportunity to target Modi. One such attack he made earlier landed him in big trouble and he was suspended. After he was convicted in the defamation case, the Parliament swung into action and suspended him.

As he could not enter Parliament as a member due to the suspension, he knocked on the doors of the court seeking a stay on his suspension. Saying that the case against him is not so big that a two-year jail term should be completed, Rahul Gandhi said that his image will get affected if the case does not stay.

Rahul Gandhi moved the Surat sessions court and said that a free trial had not happened in the case earlier. However, the sessions court did not accept the petition and canceled the petition. This is a big blow to Rahul Gandhi who pinned high hopes.

The sessions court did not accept the petition and his disqualification is still intact. If the disqualification is not changed, then there will be a by-election in his MP seat Wayanad. Moreover, Rahul Gandhi should face a jail term. If this happens then Congress cannot come out of the crisis.

The Congress party is seeing a satellite change in its image after Rahul Gandhi finished the Bharat Jodo yatra. When everything seemed ok, things changed upside down and he was disqualified. If Rahul Gandhi cannot get his disqualification reversed then it will be a big blow to the grand old Congress party which is not present in many states.

Back in 2019, Rahul Gandhi made some controversial comments about the Modi community. While campaigning for the Congress party, Rahul Gandhi breathed fire on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and took a few names like Nirav Modi and Lalit Modi and alleged that thieves have Modi Surname in common.

After he made the comments, a BJP MLA moved the court against Rahul Gandhi, and targeting the community is not good for a few people. The case lasted for a few years and a local court in Gujarat convicted him for this.

However, the opposition parties slammed the BJP on this and are alleging that the BJP is scared of Rahul Gandhi and that's why he was suspended at a rapid pace.
