AP Budget: Welfare Schemes given Major Allocations

It is an open secret that the financial situation of Andhra Pradesh is not in a good position and the government had said the same in the Parliament. The economy was hit hard due to the Covid and fewer revenues and investments had pushed the state economy towards a problematic situation. Amid this, the government had tabled the budget in the Assembly today as part of the budget sessions.

The state Finance Minister Buggana Rajendranath had tabled the budget post offering prayers at a temple. While addressing the house, the Minister said that the budget is presented with an estimation of Rs 2,56,256 Crore.

As a crackdown on the budget, Revenue Expenditure is Rs. 2,08, 261 Crore, while the Capital Expenditure is Rs 47,996 crore. The Revenue Deficit and Fiscal deficit are Rs 17,036 and Rs 48,724 crore respectively.

Despite the weak situation of the economy, the Andhra Pradesh government made sure that the welfare schemes go on and women and children get major allocations in the budget.

The welfare schemes that were granted by flagship Navatarnalu were given major allocations. YSR Rythu Bharosa was allocated Rs 3,900 crores and YSR Uchitha Pantala Bheema Scheme was allocated Rs 1802 crore, followed by YSR Sunna Vaddi Scheme(Rs 500 crore) and Agriculture Marketing(Rs 500 Crore).

On the other hand, more than 20,000 crores were allocated for BC welfare and the budget had granted a mammoth Rs 27,706 crore for school education to offer quality education for the students.

Looking at the other allocations, YSR Cheyutha(Rs.4,235.95 crore), YSR Asara(Rs.800 crore), YSR EBC Nestham(Rs 590 crore), YSR Kapu Nestham(Rs 500 crore).YSR Bima(Rs 372.12 crore), Rs YSR Vahana Mitra(Rs 260 crore), YSR Nethana Nestham( Rs 200 Crore), Jagananna Thodu(Rs 25 crore) were also given mentioned in the budget.

Giving good preference for the welfare of various communities, as much as Rs 455 crores were allocated for Brahmin Corporation, while Rs 122 crores were given for the priests. Christian Corporation was allocated Rs 11 crore. Minority welfare received as much as Rs 1750 crore and Rs 5,000 crores were allocated for concessional power supply, while the YSR Aarogyasri scheme was allocated Rs 5,000 crores.
