The Andhra Pradesh government headed by Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has decided to hike the Liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) cylinder prices in the state.
It is believed that the government took this call to fight the financial burden that was caused by the deadly outbreak of the novel Coronavirus.
The Andhra Pradesh government led by Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy issued official orders on the hike of the gas cylinders. In the orders, the government said, 10 percent VAT will be increased.
With this, the VAT on gas cylinders will be increased to 24.5 percent from the previous 14.5 percent VAT. The increase in VAT will surely impose a burden on the middle class and poor people who are going through tough times with pandemic.
After the hike in VAT, the gas cylinders in the state will be charging to INR 60 to 70 more per unit. The new prices are expected to come in effect from this month.
