Update: 2023-05-05 17:21 GMT
An unwanted trend is going on in Andhra Pradesh and the top officials are facing the wrath of the court for not implementing the orders. We have seen this in other states as well. But the incidents recorded from Andhra Pradesh are very high when compared to other states. This is a big concern.

The same happened in the state as the High Court became serious on as many as five officials and slapped him with a jail term. Besides this, they were also slapped with a fine and if they failed to pay the penalty then they should have to undergo another one-week imprisonment. They were also directed to surrender before the Registrar.

Going into details, the Andhra Pradesh High Court earlier issued directives to regularise the fieldman working with the Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation. It's been more than two years since the orders were issued. But they were not implemented. The petitioners again knocked on the doors of the High Court. The Court expressed dissatisfaction with this and ordered jail terms for a few officials.

Senior IAS officer MT Krishna Babu, IPS officer Ch Dwaraka Tirumala Rao, and three officials from Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation were slapped with one-month jail for contempt of court. They were asked to surrender before the Registrar by the 16th of this month. Once they surrender they would be sent to jail.

Earlier also the High Court slapped the officials with jail term. But they were given a chance to go for the appeal. But it appears that the court did not give any such provision for the officials. Not just the jail term, but a penalty of Rs 1000 was also imposed each.

Principal Secretary (Transport) Krishna Babu, RTC MD Dwaraka Tirumala Rao, Tirupati RTC Regional Manager T Chengal Reddy, RTC Chief Engineer U S Srinivas, and Nellore RTC Executive Engineer K Koteswara Rao are the five officials who faced the wrath of the court in contempt of court as they did not implement the court it gave back in 2020. The court ordered the regularisation of the employees and said that they should be paid salaries along with 7 percent interest.
