The AP Government scored a major psychological victory when it managed to wean away the RTC employees from the proposed government employees strike. The public transport department has categorically said that it would not be part of the agitation of the PRC Joint Action Committee.

The leaders of the 13 district RTC units met at Vijayawada on Sunday and said that they were ready to take part in any discussion with the government and asked the JAC not to go in for a strike. State PTD employees union president Challa Chandraiah state working president DSC Rao state secretary M Abraham and others said that they would work for the unity of the employees but would stay away from the agitation.

They said that the JAC was trying to fire the gun from the shoulders of the RTC employees.  They also pointed out that they would not in any way be benefited by the JAC sponsored strike. They also called upon the RTC employees not to fall prey to the machinations of the JAC.

This is the second major employees union to stay away from the government employees strike which is set to begin in the first week of February. The Gazetted Officers Union of Andhra Pradesh has already expressed willingness to negotiate with the government. It has expressed the desire to solve the problems of the employees through discussions and deliberations.
