As RS Term Expires, This Senior Politico Stares At Joblessness

Update: 2020-09-02 04:20 GMT
Decades after striding like a political colossus, senior politician, two-time Pradesh Congress Committee chief and Rajya Sabha MP D Srinivas is finding himself at the political crossroads. His term is set to expire soon and he has nowhere to go.

He is not wanted in the TRS, the party he is currently in. There is no incentive for him to go to the Congress party, the party that has made him what he is. The Congress seems to have no future in Telangana. He left the Congress and joined the TRS when the Congress gave an MLC ticket not to him but to Akula Vijaya, who was much junior to him in politics.

He has however wreaked vengeance on the TRS for ignoring and sidelining him by mentoring his son D Aravind in politics. Aravind has contested on behalf of the BJP and humbled such a heavyweight as Kalwakuntla Kavitha in 2019 elections. DS has helped him in many ways by mobilizing support for Aravind. He even forced the Congress to secretly shift its votes to Aravind to defeat Kavitha. It was a revenge of sorts because it was Kavitha who waged a campaign to sidelike DS.

Now, DS is set to retire from the Rajya Sabha and has nothing to do. He is said to be in touch with the BJP and has reportedly met Amit Shah twice. But, the BJP top leadership has asked him to remain in the TRS, but help the BJP. Once the Rajya Sabha term is over, what will he do next? Will the BJP take him in and give him a suitable position? Will he be rehabilitated by KCR? If that happens, what will be the future of his son Aravind? Interesting questions all, but with no immediate answers.
