AP or Telangana, Where To Contest From?

Update: 2018-08-24 14:16 GMT
You have seen politicians changing parties and constituencies. A candidate who wins from one constituency might opt for another constituency due to various factors. But, this MLA is currently an MLA in one state and is planning to contest from another state.

Sunnam Rajaiah, the three-time MLA from Bhadrachalam region is a diehard CPM member. He is known for his austere lifestyle and people connect. However , this time around he is faced with a  strange predicament. Half of his constituency is now part of the Rampachodavaram constituency in Andhra Pradesh and the remaining four mandals are in Bhadrachalam constituency. Post-bifurcation, TRS has made deep inroads into the Bhadrachalam constituency. So, if Rajaiah contests from there, he might lose the election. His own village Sunnam Vari Gudem is in VR Puram mandal, which is now merged with Andhra Pradesh. He has considerable hold on the four mandals merged in AP. So, contesting from there makes sense for him. But, there is a problem. The CPM has not transferred his membership from Telangana to Andhra Pradesh. So, if he is a member of the party in Telangana, he may not be named as a candidate in Andhra Pradesh. Like a committed soldier of the party, Rajaiah says he would do whatever the party asks him to do.
