Kapu reservation is not a new demand and a strong movement has been going on for decades now. The matter is also sensitive and political as parties talk about the debate during the elections. The Kapu community is also one of the highly populated communities and the parties try to woo them.

But the movement turned intense in 2016 when a train was set on fire in Tuni. Miscreants set the Ratnachal Express on fire creating a national sensation. The concerned cops mentioned the names of more than 40 people in connection with the case and Mudragada Padmanabham was named as A1 in the case.

Now the case saw big development as the case was dismissed. The Vijayawada Railway Court which heard the petition had dismissed the case after five long years. However, the court made some critical comments while giving the verdict in the case.

As per the reports, the court is believed to have expressed dissatisfaction with the case and asked why the case was dragged on for five years and also said that the investigation did not happen though the case is delicate and also issued directives on three Railway officials who probed the matter.

While Mudragada Padmanabham is A1, Akula Ramakrishna, and current Minister Dadisetti Raja are A2 and A3 in the case. Now they got a big relief in the case and it was suspended.

The incident happened in the previous AP government led by TDP. After the YCP came to power the party withdrew the cases. Now the Court dismissed the case. It can be seen as a big relief for the accused in the case.
