Big Win: Arvind Kejriwal Breaks BJP's Strong Bastion!

Update: 2022-12-07 11:20 GMT
The ruling party in Delhi Aam Aadmi Party which wants to spread its wings in national politics pulled a big sting by winning the Municipal Corporation of Delhi polls. No one saw the elections as a civic body poll with the parties giving their best for the campaign.

Bharatiya Janata Party and AAP had a tough fight in the polls. In the edge of the seat corner contest, AAP managed to win the polls. The Delhi Civic body has been a strong bastion of the BJP for around 15 years. Despite being in power in Delhi, AAP could not win the MCD elections so far.

But AAP surprised many by breaking the strong bastion of the BJP. The Delhi civic body has a total of 250 wards and it needs 126 seats to elect the mayor. AAP won 134 seats while BJP won 103 seats. Though the BJP could not reach the magical figure, it won the wards that fall under the constituency of Satyendar Jain. Like in 2017, BJP won the Saraswati Vihar, Paschim Vihar, and Rani Bagh wards.

The wards that fall under the constituency of Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia were always dominated by the BJP. Proving the same the BJP won three out of the four wards.

Winning the MCD polls will surely boost the morale of AAP as it tried its luck in the recently held Gujarat polls. Though Arvind Kejriwal’s party cannot win the polls in the state it can win a few seats. Political experts say that AAP can take the place of the grand old party in Gujarat as the principal opposition party.
