The BJP leaders seem bent on spoiling the well-laid out game plan of Narendra Modi with their statements that border on the absurd. While Modi is gradually trying to build a moderate façade for the party, his own party men seem to be undoing all that has been done so far.
Senior BJP leader, former deputy chief minister of Karnataka KC Eswarappa has stirred up an unseemly controversy when he said that soon the RSS saffron flag or the Bhagwa flag would become the national flag of the country. This inter alia meant that the national tricolour, the national flag of India, would be replaced. He said that the saffron flag stands for sacrifice and service and that everyone in the country should work to make this the national flag of the country.
He, however, said that the national Tricolour was the flag of the country and that it should be given due respect. But, the saffron flag represents the history and culture of this country for millennia, he said . He further said that saffron flag is the true flag of India and its culture.
This is not the first time that Eswarappa said this. Earlier too, he had said that the tricolour was the true flag of the country and represented its culture. He said he was working to hoist the saffron flag everywhere in the country.
