The BJP and the TRS are now in a bitter war of words over PM Modi's comments on the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh. The TRS has even organised a day long protest on the issue on Wednesday. But even as this protest was going on, the BJP pulled the rug from under the feet of the TRS by winning the Thukkuguda municipality on the outskirts of Hyderabad.
The Thukkuguda municipality has 15 wards, of which the BJP won nine seats and the TRS five seats. But the TRS used its ex-officio members to win the municipal council. It made BjP rebel and an independent councillor Kantedar Madhumohan the municipal chairperson. Now Madhuumohan has joined the BJP in the presence of party affairs incharge Tarun Chugh and state BJP president bandi Sanjay . Thus the municipality has gone into the BJP kitty.
The TRS has reportedly been ill treating Madhu Mohan. A miffed Madhu Mohan has been keeping away from the party affairs. He did not take part in the KTR tour of Thukkuguda recently. The BJP feels that there would be no threat to his post immediately. As per municipal rules, he cannot be dislodged from post till 2023, which is an election year.
