The BJP got a shot in the arm as the Yuva Telangana Party of Jitta Balakrishna Reddy and Rani Rudrama has decided to merge with the BJP. The formal merging will take place on February 16 and the two leaders will join the party in the presence of BJP national president JP Nadda.
Jitta Balakrishna Reddy contested from Bhongir assembly constituency polled 44000 votes in 2009 and 40000 in 2014. Rani Rudrama contested for the Graduates MLC constituency and stood fifth in the contest next only to the BJP. Both the leaders have been in discussion with the BJP for the last several months. The deal was clinched recently and the merging would take place in the third week of February.
Highly placed sources say that the BJP has offered MP Bhongir MP ticket to JItta Balakrishna Reddy and Ibrahim Patnam assembly seat to Rani Rudrama. The two leaders would soon hold a meeting of the leaders of various districts. Yuva Telangana leaders are planning to hold a public meeting in Bhongir to announce the merger.
Both Rani Rudrama and Jitta Balakrishna Reddy have been consistently opposing the TRS and KCR for betraying the Telangana cause. They argue that though the state has secured political emancipation, it has failed to improve the lot of the people.
