Of all the four major parties in the fray in the GHMC elections, the Congress Party is in the most pitiable condition. The party is low on morale, resources and poor in strategy. The party does not seem to have the enthusiasm to fight.
The party is not getting candidates in some divisions and even when offered, some leaders are refusing to contest saying that they do not have resources and wherewithal to fight the elections. Several locally strong leaders like Banda Karthika Reddy, former MLA Bikshapathi Yadav, his son Ravi Yadav have already joined the BJP. Efforts of leaders like Revanth Reddy, Jeevan Reddy and others had no effect on them. Many more key leaders like former MP Konda Vishveshwar Reddy are in touch with the BJP leaders. In fact, BJP state president Bandi Sanjay has already held discussions with Konda Vishweshwar Reddy. Patancheru's key Congress leader Godavari has also left the party and joined the BJP.
Meanwhile, city Congress president and former MP Anjan Kumar Yadav, who has to play a key role in the GHMC elections, is sulking. He is unhappy over the formation of the election committees and has stopped visiting the the city Congress office. Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka met Anjan Yadav and held discussions with him. Yadav is unhappy that his son Ravi Yadav has not been given place in the election committee.
Over all, the Congress clearly appears rudderless and direction less. Let's wait and see how things shape in the coming days.
