AP CM Jagan Mohan Reddy is visiting Delhi on the 5th and 6th of this month reportedly. He is expected to meet PM Modi and Amit Shah. He was supposed to meet Delhi last week, however, it got delayed due to the alleged appointment issues. PMO reportedly informed CMO asking Jagan to be available on the 5th and 6th of this month. With this, he is going to Delhi. Meeting Modi and Amit Shah is not a big issue. But fulfilling the state's interests is the key here.
As per the party circles, Jagan is likely to put pressure on Narendra Modi on Special status, funds for the Polavaram project as per the revised estimates, and funds for the backward districts. There are a few doubts about this. Union Ministers and leaders said many times that Special status is an old topic and in its place, a special package was given. They also said that the package gave big benefit than the special status.
Though Jagan brought up the special status issue many times in the past four years. No positive response came from Narendra Modi. There are a few doubts about whether there will be any positive response if Jagan demands this one more time. Another thing is that BJP will not have any political advantage with this. The situation would have been different if Narendra Modi would have responded positively in matters of state interests. It would be better for the party if it had worked for the bifurcation promises.
However, Narendra Modi poured water on the promises by not responding positively to this. On top of this, the iconic Vizag Steel Plant is listed for privatization. There is no benefit for the state from the Centre except for loss. This is the reason behind the anger in people towards the BJP. Due to various reasons, the Center released Rs 24,000 crores under pending revenue loss and pending Polavaram dues. But this will not be enough. The party circles are saying that Jagan would put pressure on Special status and others as the elections are approaching. We have to wait and see what happens next.
