Can YCP succeed on Special Category Issue unlike TDP?

Update: 2022-04-26 09:49 GMT
Is ruling YSRCP in Andhra Pradesh in plans to do what the Telugu Desam Party did before the 2019 polls? Is the party trying to paint what the then ruling TDP did before the voters to ask vote, the ongoing political developments hint at the possibility of the same.

Before the 2019 general elections, the Telugu Desam Party led by Chandrababu Naidu had highlighted the importance of having a special status for Andhra Pradesh to develop the state. On the same issue, the party had locked horns with the saffron party despite forming an alliance for the 2014 polls.

Looks like the YSRCP is also trying to do the same. It is said that noted political strategist Prashant Kishor who is expected to join Congress had proposed that Congress should join hands with YSRCP in Andhra Pradesh to get the required boost.

Earlier, the likes of Rajya Sabha member Vijayasai reddy, IT Minister Gudivada Amarnath said that they have no plans of joining hands with the grand old party and they will support any party at the centre only if they support the state in terms of safeguarding its interests.

Former Minister Perni Nani stressed the same and said that YSRCP will support any party if it bats for the interest of Andhra Pradesh. The ex-Cinematography Minister went on to say that Congress has to give in writing that Andhra Pradesh will be given special category status after coming to power.

The YSRCP Ministers and Leaders'comments saying that their party needs no alliance and it can win the polls solo and talking about the possible alliance if Congress ensures that Andhra Pradesh will be supported reminds everyone of the strategy used by the Telugu Desam Party before the polls.

However, TDP did not succeed in the polls when it highlighted the special category status. The YSRCP is in plans to do the same if we look at what is going on in the state. Can YCP do what TDP could not do and succeed where the Telugu Desam Party had failed? Only time has the answer to this and we have to wait and see for this.
