The Amaravati issue which went through several twists and turns took another significant turn with the Ministry of Home Affairs intervening in this and filing a counter-affidavit.

In the counter affidavit filed in the Andhra Pradesh High Court, the Ministry of Home Affairs maintained that selecting Capital is the State purview and the centre has nothing to do with it.

Political circles are citing that the Centre's stand makes it's clear that Andhra Pradesh government's move to have three capitals as Legislative Capital, Administrative Capital, and Judicial Capital.

Earlier, the Andhra Pradesh High Court issued a status quo on two bills, AP Decentralisation and Inclusive Development of all Regions and  CRDA Repeal. The case was postponed to August 14 for the next hearing.
