There is a strong criticism that the Central government often ignores the southern states. We are hearing this regularly after the combined Andhra Pradesh was divided. The ruling party in Telangana TRS which is now BRS often targets the Centre that the state is not getting the required support.
It is known that Telangana was bifurcated from the combined Andhra Pradesh in 2014. Many benefits were announced for the divided AP including a special status. The situation might have been different if Congress would have come to power. But BJP came to power in the general elections.
BJP wants to foray into the AP. However, no significant help was given to the state so that the AP leaders can project into people. On top of this, the Vizag Steel plant which is the history of AP is listed for privatisation and the union government is not showing any sign of having a second thought on this.
The AP BJP leaders cannot say what the Centre has done for the state so far. On top of this, the parties in the state are targeting the saffron party which is not doing anything for the state. The general elections in the state will be held next year and the negative image would cost big time.
Amid this, the Centre is said to be in plans to announce a special package worth thousands of crores. The package is believed to be around Rs 22,000 crores which is in addition to the funds of revenue deficit and Polavaram project funds. An announcement would be announced soon.
Many say that the package announced by the BJP is just a namesake one and the package would work as a counter by the party leaders on lending a special package to the state. The reports on the package are doing rounds amid Jaganâs Delhi tour.
