The much-talked-about Hijab controversy which has been seeing several twists and turns went through a big twist with the Karnataka High Court giving a sensational verdict. The verdict has now put an end to the violence and unrest that prevailed in a few regions in the state.
In the verdict, the High Court said that wearing a hijab does not fall under the essential religious practice of Islam and hence there is no wrong with the government arguing the students to follow a uniformity. Having said that, the Court also said no to striking down the ban on Hijab imposed by the government.
Telangana Chief Minister Kalvakuntla Chandrashekar Rao, who has been a vocal supporter of Muslim students in the Hijab row responded to the issue in the State Assembly. While responding to the issue, the Chief Minister lashed out at the centre.
Accusing the Bharatiya Janata Party of creating communal issues, KCR alleged that the party is creating a tense situation out of a sensitive topic.
Extending his support to the students, KCR asked why the government is bothered about the attire of students? Why has it become a controversy? Who made the issue a big controversy, he asked.
