Children Below 5 And Their Mothers In Andhra Pradesh To Get Vaccinated As A Precautionary Measure
With the experts warning about the possible threat in the form of the third wave of the novel Coronavirus, which is said to be dangerous towards the children and younger age group, the Andhra Pradesh government swung into action.
The YS Jagan Mohan Reddy-led government announced that children below the age of five and their mothers would be vaccinated as a precautionary measure to tackle the Covid third wave.
Talking about the decision, state Medical and Health Principal Secretary Anil Kumar Singhal said, the new move is a part of the preventive measures.
A special Task Force was constituted by the Andhra Pradesh government in this regard, and as per the predictions of the Task Force, around 4.5 lakh children would get affected.
Based on the predictions, the Chief Minister announced vaccinations for mothers with children below age. It was made mandatory that mothers should also stay at hospitals if their children get infected with the deadly virus.
On the other hand, individuals above the age of 18 across the nation would be vaccinated free of cost starting from the 21st of this month, as announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday.
