Update: 2020-04-28 05:33 GMT
Mumbai's mayor Kishori Pednekar has set a rare example in leadership by working as a nurse in a government hospital designated to treat the Covid 19 patients. Kishori, who worked as a nurse before joining politicis, donned nurse's gown and joined the duties in BMC-run BYL hospital. On Monday, she visited the hospital and donned the nurse's uniform. She also joined the other nurses and worked with them in treating the patients. She also motivated the nurses to work sincerely in treating the patients. She also interacted with them to know their problems.

She told the nurses that she too had worked as a nurse in a private hospital before joining politics. She also told them that she understands the problems being faced by the nurses and other sanitary staff. She said she had come in the uniform to express her solidarity with the nursing community.  Interestingly, all through her time in the hospital, Kishori maintained social distancing and followed all the anti-corona norms.

Kishori is a Shiv Sena leader and has been a councillor since 2002.  Kishori's father was a mill worker and she joined Shiv Sena decades later. She is also incharge of the women's wing of the party.
