Foresight and advanced planning... that's what a leader needs to stay afloat in politics. One leader who has this in abundance is Telangana CM KCR. Despite being quite busy with his Federal Front plans and his meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, KCR did not forget to do one thing, which is of great importance. He had one important appointment in his very busy schedule - a meeting with chief election commissioner Arora.
And what did he discuss? He discussed the issue of election symbols for the independents. He requested the CEC to ensure that symbols similar to his party's symbol Car are not allotted to any independent. And why did he make this request? In the just concluded Telangana assembly elections, symbols like tractor, truck and iron box, which look similar to his party symbol car, got considerable number of votes. In three assembly constituencies, these symbols got more than 10000 votes. In more than 15 constituencies, the votes polled were more than 1000 each. In close contests, these votes matter. KCR strongly feels that these votes that the independents got, were actually TRS votes and illiterate voters may have voted for these symbols mistaking them to be car symbol. So, for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, he wants to ensure that the Car symbol gets every vote that it has to get. So, he personally met the CEC to talk about this. He could have sent some senior party leader, but realising the importance, he chose to do it all by himself.
Such is the importance that KCR attaches to even smaller things. He wants to ensure that there is no problem in communication about the party symbol. He did not want to leave anything to chance. He knows the Opposition Congress and the BJP would try to put up a strong fight in the Lok Sabha elections. So, he wants t ensure that there is no wrong voting in any booth. This is why KCR could poll so many votes for his party in the just-concluded elections.
