Congress MLC fails to file nomination papers, asks party to support son, who has BJP backing
When the party becomes weak, even small leaders dare to look into its eye and play the game of deceit. The Congress has learnt this lesson the hard way. Dr Sudhir Tambe, a three-time MLC from Maharashtra cocked a snook at the Congress Party's leadership the other day when he did not file his nomination papers for the MLC seat after the party announced him as the official candidate.
Then he did the unthinkable. His son Satyajeet filed nomination as an independent and sought the BJP's support in the election. Damle then asked the Congress party to support his son, who is an independent. Thus, this leader has duped the party leadership and even tried to force it to accept the candidature of his son.
A shocked Congress was left red-faced at this sudden flip-flop by one of its senior leaders. What is more shocking for the Congress leadership is the fact that Tambe's maternal uncle is ex-minister and hardcore Gandhi family loyalist Babasaheb Thorat. What more? Satyajeet is the former president of the Maharashtra Youth Congress.
The Congress was shocked to know that Satyajeet is a close friend of deputy chief minister Devendra Fadnavis. In fact, Fadnavis recently attended Satyajeet's book release function. The Congress leaders are unable to digest this betrayal and are planning to initiate action against Satyajeet and his father Sudhir. Interestingly, both maintain that they are still in the Congress Party january.
