Congress Planning Rath Yatra For GHMC Elections?

Update: 2020-08-25 07:37 GMT
The Congress is down, but is not completely out in Telangana. It wants to prove its strength once again. Now it wants to give a serious fight in the GHMC area, which will soon go to polls. So, it is now planning something big for the GHMC. It is now thinking of taking out a ratha yatra in the city.

Yes. The Ratha Yatra is being seriously contemplated and the party wants all key leaders to join the yatra, which will in all likelihood, cover the nook and corner of the twin cities. If sources serve us right, then Sangareddy MLA  Jagga Reddy will lead the yatra and senior leader V Hanumantha Rao will also be a part of it. The Congress was a powerful force in the city for quite sometime. Leaders like Danam Nagender, Manemma Anjayya, P Janardhan Reddy, M Sasidhar Reddy and Mukesh Goud had strong presence and were match-winners for the party. Now, most of these leaders are with the TRS and the party is considerably weakened. So, the Congress is planning to create a new leadership in the Twin Cities and Rathayatra would be a part of this strategy.

However, sources in the know say that the Congress is primarily working to ensure that it is not pushed to the third place in the GHMC. As of now, it does not have even a single corporator. It wants to ensure that it can stay second and push the BJP to the third place. So, the Congress is essentially fighting for the second spot, not the first spot. The TRS is very happy at this development as a divided opposition is a surefire guarantee for its victory.
