In the wake of the positive cases increasing rapidly Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Health Lav Agarwal has spoken about the study carried out by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) said that not maintaining social distancing and not following the lockdown measures might turn the situation even worse.
"If we take the 'R0' to be 2.5 then one positive person can infect 406 people in 30 days, if the lockdown and social distancing measures are not in place, but if social exposure is reduced by 75 per cent then that one sick person will only be able to infect only 2.5 persons," Agarwal said.
It is believed that the Centre is considering extending the lockdown as the positive cases are not coming down and increasing at a rapid phase inculcating a lot of fears and concerns over the pandemic.
With the positive cases increasing steadily in national capital Delhi, Chief Minister Kejriwal said that there are arranging a 3000 bedded hospital and if there is any need they will set up more such hospitals.
Earlier, Telangana Chief Minister KCR has directed the officials to set up a 1500 bedded hospital near the Gachobowli area to provide treatment for the positive cases of COVID-19.
