Covid-19 scare: India breaks all the previous records in fresh infections

The deadly second wave of the respiratory disease Coronavirus has been ringing the danger bells over the past week. Breaking all the previous records, India witnessed a massive spike in single-day infections on Sunday.

On April 11, India added as many as 1,52,879 fresh infections of the Covid-19 virus. The Fresh infections are the highest infections witnessed in India in a single day so far.

Fresh infections are increasing at an alarming level in India. After adding 1,04,000 cases earlier this week, the tally of fresh infections has surpassed the 1.5 lakh mark today.

What-s even more concerning is that India witnessed more than one lakh fresh infections for five days in a row. The other day, more than 1.45 lakh pandemic cases were reported.

On the other hand, the active cases in India have surpassed the 11-lakh mark with as many as 11,08,087 active cases. For the 32nd consecutive day, India has a constant rise in active cases.

The second wave of Covid-19 pandemic has resulted in several states in India undergoing night curfews and restrictions. The list of states announcing restrictions is increasing day by day.

Looking at the fatalities, more than 800 people have succumbed to respiratory disease in the past 24 hours with 839 casualties, taking the total fatalities related to the pandemic to 1.69 lakh.

India has started a historic vaccination drive against the ongoing pandemic in January this year. In 85 days, India has surpassed the 100 million dose mark in vaccines with over 10.15 crore vaccinations.
