In the past 24 hours, not less than 41,195 people were infected with Covid which takes the toll of the total number of cases in the country to 3,20,77,706.
The cases have been increasing at a slow pace in the current week. Compared to Wednesday, India recorded a rise of 7.4 percent in fresh Coronavirus cases.
India saw more than 41,000 people detected with Covid for one more time amid fears and concerns about the Covid third wave.
However, the lion share of the infections caused by the contagious disease have been declared cured and discharged from the hospitals respectively.
While India's Covid case count stood at a massive 3,20,77,706 count, 3,12,60,050 out of them were declared cured. As a result, the country has 3,87,987 active cases.
Not less than 490 patients have lost their battle to the Covid in the past 24 hours, the number of casualties caused by the virus in the country are heading towards 4.3 lakh mark with 4,29,669.
On the other hand, India reached another milestone in terms of vaccine doses with administering more than 52 crore doses so far. While over 40 lakh doses were given in the past 24 hours.
Meanwhile the ongoing pandemic continues to ring the danger bells in God's own country Kerala with the state being the highest contributor for the fresh cases.
Out of the fresh cases reported in the country, Kerala accounts for 23,500 cases which translates to over 50 percent.
The situation in Maharashtra seems a bit under control. Despite being the worst affected state, Maharashtra has been reporting fresh cases below 6,000 cap. The state witnessed 5,560 new cases.
