The second wave of Covid-19 has hit Andhra Pradesh very hard with the infections are increasing at an alarming level. The state witnessed nearly 1,000 cases for the third time in a span of six days.
The Health Department officials have tested not less than 30,851 samples in the past 24 hours and 993 people were tested positive for the respiratory disease. The caseload had surpassed the 9 lakh mark with 9,00,805.
The data shared by the Health Ministry says, in the last 24 hours, three people lost their lives due to respiratory disease. The fresh fatalities recorded in 24 hours take the total pandemic fatalities to 7,213.
Though the new infections are increasing rapidly, Andhra Pradesh is also seeing a steady rise in recoveries. With 480 new recoveries, total recoveries rose to 8,86,978. The active cases stood at 6,614 in the state.
The other day, the Andhra Pradesh government issued directives to impose a fine of Rs 250 on those who fail to wear facemask outdoors. The directives were issued to the concerned departments.
