The liquor shops which were closed in the country following the nationwide lockdown imposed in India in the wake of the spread of the novel coronavirus in the country were reopened in some states after the Centre gave some relaxations.
With the liquor shops reopened liquor lovers rushed to the outlets and the states witnessed highest-ever liquor sales in the state. While Andhra Pradesh reported 45 crores on the first day, Karnataka turned out as the state to witness the highest ever liquor sales in the south.
The Centre giving its nod to reopen the liquor shops did not go well with CPI secretary K Narayana and the leader lashed out at the Centre for allowing the liquor shops to function and closing the temples.
The Communist leader went on to say that it's not appreciable that the Centre gave a green signal for the liquor shops and added that by opening the Temples the states will get a huge income which will lend a helping hand to the states.
