With the positive cases of the novel coronavirus increasing in India rapidly, a nationwide-lockdown was imposed which is now entered the second phase. Everything was shut down in the country including the alcohol stores.
This left the alcohol lovers in a state of shock as they were unable to taste the alcohol from the first phase of the lockdown. The prices of liquor in grey markets skyrocketed as per the huge demand for alcohol.
As an addition to this, a new development surfaced that one and a half crores of liters of beers will be going with the drain breaking the hearts of the alcohol lovers. The decision was taken by the Excise department as the expiry time for the liquor was exceeded.
Following the lockdown, the Beverages stopped the production of beers and the earlier produced beer was stored at Excide depots, Bars, Wines, and some Clubs. It is believed that around 20 lakh cartons of beers have exceeded the 6 months expiry.
The Excise department stated that the total beer will be around 1.56 crores of liters of beer that exceeded the expiry date. As there is no use with the liquor, the same will go down with the drain.
