AP: Division bench issues order to stay single bench orders on Parishad Elections

Update: 2021-06-25 09:58 GMT
As a big relief to the Andhra Pradesh government, the division bench of the High Court issued interim orders to stay the orders issued by the single judge bench concerning the ZPTC and MPTC elections.

The bench opined that the issue needs a detailed hearing and adjourning the hearing to the 27th of next month. The SEC was also directed to not start the process of vote counting of the polls.

The issue reached the High Court after the SEC knocked on the doors of the High Court to challenge the single bench orders which say a renotification to conduct the Parishad elections should be issued.

The single-judge bench of the Andhra Pradesh High Court in May had canceled the elections and the State Election Commission(SEC) was also directed to issue a renotification for the elections.

The opposition parties in the state have moved the High Court stating that the Supreme Court’s orders were not followed while issuing the notification for the MPTC and ZPTC elections.
