DL's see-saw politics: From TDP to YSRCP and back to TDP?

Update: 2023-01-10 04:22 GMT
Is senior leader and six-time MLA DL Ravindra Reddy planning to join the TDP? Is he planning to contest as the TDP candidate from his borough Mydukur in Kadapa? If not, why is he targeting the ruling YSRCP and chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy of late? What is his game-plan for the 2024 assembly elections in Andhra Pradesh?

DL was once a very strong politician from Kadapa and won from Mydukur for a record six times. In 2014 when the state was bifurcated, he chose to join the TDP. He campaigned for the TDP and ensured that its candidate wins from Mydukur. However, Chandrababu literally marginalised him after the 2014 elections. A miffed DL then joined the YSRCP ahead of the 2019 assembly elections.

Even in the YSRCP, it was a repeat of the same story. After his staggering win in 2019, Jagan literally ignored him. Since then, DL has been in the wilderness. Now with the 2024 elections approaching, DL Ravindra Reddy has begun making statements that are critical of the YSRCP. He has said that the YSRCP might not win even a single seat in Kadapa district. This implied that even Jagan would lose in the 2024 elections.

Sources say that DL is cozying up to the Telugu Desam again. He wants to join the TDP. There’s however a hitch. Will Chandrababu Naidu give hm the party ticket in the 2024 assembly elections? While DL is hopeful, the others are wary. They feel that DL could very well be in four another bout of use-and-throw politics. Let’s wait and watch how things unfold.
