Strong Shiv Sena leader Eknath Shinde took everyone by surprise by waging a war against the party which nurtured him. His fight has worked for him and he got the Chief Minister post which would be impossible for him to get if he stays in the Hindutva party Shiv Sena.
After several twists and turns, Eknath Shinde, who was expected to become the Depuy Chief Minister of Maharashtra became the CM. He proved his strength in the floor test and recently took the oath. Eknath Shinde remembered Shiv Sena Bal Thackeray and his mentor Anand Dighe.
Earlier he assured everyone that the state VAT on fuel will be reduced so that the people in the state would not face any issues. Days after the floor test, the Chief Minister implemented the same and the Cabinet under his leadership decided to cut down the VAT by Rs 5 and Rs 3 per litre on Diesel and Petrol respectively.
Eknath Shinde did not take a backstep in reducing the VAT and went ahead though the decision would bring a big burden on the state economy. Commuters will now face a slight relief from the soaring prices. Maharashtra has one of the highest fuel prices.
Technically speaking reducing the VAT is his first promise as Chief Minister candidate. Though he has the required MLAs support t prove his strength, he was not a Chief Minister before the floor test.
Without forgetting what he said, Eknath Shinde took a key decision and brought down the prices of Petrol and Diesel in the state by a bit. The experts say that the decision would translate to an additional burden of around Rs 6,000 crore on the economy every year.
On the other hand, if Eknath Shinde would have not fulfilled the promise, then the Shiv Sena leadership and other parties would start a fresh attack against him that he could not fulfill his first promise, and how we can hope that he can lead the state. Eknath Shinde has hit two birds with one shot, by fulfilling his promise and not giving a chance to the opposition in attacking him.
