Ex-MP's security downgraded: Is KCR indicating he has no place in TRS?Â
It is now becoming increasingly clear that the ruling TRS in Telangana has decided to dump former MP Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy. The Telangana government has downgraded the security of Ponguleti. This is being viewed as an indication that the party's honeymoon with the maverick politician is all but over.
According to official sources, Ponguleti used to have a 3+3 security and a pilot vehicle all these days. But, in a latest decision, the pilot vehicle has been removed and a 2+2 security has been given to him. The decision came in the wake of Ponguleti's recent statement that he would surely contest from Khammam assembly constituency. He said he is not sure from which party he would contest.
This only means that he is all set to challenge sitting MLA of Khammam and transport minister Ajay Puvvada. The TRS leadership has not taken kindly to this statement. It is also being rumoured that Ponguleti is set to leave the TRS and could contest the election on a BJP ticket. Already, he has been holding parleys with the BJP national leadership. To show its displeasure, the TRS government has downgraded his security.
The TRS has been facing severe dissidence as Ponguleti has been sulking for quite some time. Ponguleti was not given an MLA ticket in the 2018 elections and was asked to step aside to make way for moneybag Nama Nageswara Rao as the Khammam MP candidate for the 2019 elections. Though he has complied with the Party's diktat, he has not been suitably rehabilitated with any key post. Since then, he has been fretting and fuming at the party's leadership.
