The IT Capital of India, Bengaluru is home to hundreds of IT firms. The companies that have been shut since 2020 due to Coronavirus impact are now gearing up for work from the office.
Now the Karnataka government had appealed to the IT companies located along the Ring Road (ORR) stretch in Bengaluru to continue working from home till Dec 2022.
The reason for this is that, the metro construction works have started at the ORR stretch where the majority of the IT firms were located. With the companies working from the office, it would lead to more traffic jams in the area.
Seeing that it would be a hectic job for the traffic department to control the traffic, the government had appealed to the companies to extend the WFH module till next year.
The state government said, if the companies have no other option left other than working from office, the offices should ask the employees to take up public transport or use the cycle tracks for their commute.
In the letter that was sent to the companies by the government, it was informed that it would take one and a half year to two years to finish the work and that's why the companies are asked to take up WFH. Another alternative mentioned by the government is that the working hours of the employees can be staggered a bit.
