Fear among Indians to take vaccine doses continues?

Update: 2021-01-07 05:55 GMT
Days after the start of the New Year 20201, the Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) gave its nod for the vaccines developed by the Serum Institute of India and Bharat Biotech for emergency use under some restrictions.

Amid this backdrop, an online platform conducted a survey to shed light on the perception of the Indians on getting vaccinations and the doubts Indians have in their minds over the vaccination.

According to the survey conducted by the online platform 'LocalCircles', only a mere 26 percent of the respondents said that they are ready to get vaccinated in the vaccination drive.

Only 26 percent of the respondents out of the 8,723 respondents expressing willingness to get vaccinated, surprised everyone. The reason for this is half of the respondents serve as health workers.

The health workers said the vaccination program for them will be taken care of by the union government, so they need not worry about getting vaccinated.

The first survey was conducted in October. In the survey, 61 percent of the respondents said they are hesitant to get vaccinated with the vaccine. The percentage has come down to 59 percent in the next month.

On the other hand, to study the opinion of the health workers the survey was conducted by selecting only the health workers in the month of December. 55 percent of the health workers said they will not rush to take the vaccine.

It is said that health workers are not ready to take the vaccine as they are not satisfied with the safety offered by the vaccines which were approved for emergency use.

When asked about vaccinating the kids against the Coronavirus, 26 percent of the 10,468 parents who participated in the survey said they are not ready to vaccinate their kids, while 12 percent of them are ready to vaccinate.

The survey said a major portion of the parents wants the schools to be started at least by April 2021. The educational institutions have been shut across the nation since March of last year due to the pandemic outbreak followed by a series of lockdowns.

A major share of the respondents, including the health workers in India, are not in a mood to get vaccinated with the virus and the parents are also hesitant to get their kids vaccinated with the virus during the vaccination drive.

The fears and doubts pertaining to the vaccine to cure the pandemic would be cleared in the minds of the public once the vaccination program gets started in the country and it shows a positive impact and helps in curing the pandemic.

Let us hope that the year 2021 keeps an end to all the problems we faced in the last year due to Coronavirus in many ways and everything gets under control and everything becomes normal.
