Fear and worry in TRS leaders with biz links as ED cracks whip

Update: 2022-11-10 04:10 GMT
There is a sense of fear and anxiety in the ruling TRS in Telangana despite the impressive victory in Munugode. The TRS rank and file, especially those with business and industry links, are worried about the possibility of raids by the enforcement directorate and the Income Tax sleuths. Already, two key leaders, including a minister, have been raided by these Central agencies dealing with financial misdemeanors.

Close on the heels of IT and ED raids on TRS MP and industrialist Nama Nageswara Rao, the sleuths raided the assets and industries of Minister Gangula Kamalakar. Huge amounts and premises in 28 places were raided in the case of Nama Nageswara Rao , who is accused of diverting loan amounts.

Even before the party could get over the shock, there were attacks on Abhishek Boyinapalli, considered quite close to MLC Kavitha Kalwakuntla, in connection with the Delhi liquor scam. Kavitha immediately distanced herself from Abhishek and said that she has no links whatsoever with him.

On Wednesday, there were simultaneous raids on the Karimnagar and Hyderabad premises of Minister Gangula Kamalakar. These raids happened when Gangula was on a foreign tour. The day-long raids at multiple places came as a shock to the minister and the TRS establishment.

There is now fear and apprehension in the TRS leaders, who are involved in industries and investments, as who could be next. They feel that the BJP government is planning to attack the financial base of the TRS in Telangana. They are worried as to who could be the next to face the raids.
