Will This Dalit Leader Give Congress What Reddys Failed To Give?

Will Sailajanath be able to turn around the fortunes of the Congress Party in Andhra Pradesh? Will he be able to bring the Congress back as a major political player? The Congress high command's decision to appoint Dalit face of the party as the new PCC chief in AP is getting a lukewarm response. None of the leaders have hailed his appointment nor did they look enthusiastic.

Sailajanath himself has been keeping a low profile all these years. There were even rumours that he was considering leaving the Congress. But, now that incumbent PCC chief Raghuveera Reddy indicating that he is not interested in being the PCC chief anymore, the mantle has fallen on Sailajanath. In fact, the Congress high command has asked several other key leaders to take the PCC chief's job. But, none of the leaders showed any interest in taking up the responsibility. Finally, Sailajanath took the mantle of responsibility.

However, the Congress has not organised any programme in the last five to six years. Even on the issue of capital change, the Congress has not shown any interest. It is completely off the radar for the people of AP after the bifurcation of the state. What will Sailajanath do and how will he try to bring back the old glory of the party? What is his plan to re-energise the party in Andhra Pradesh? Let's wait and watch how he is going to turn around the party.
