GHMC Polls: Forum For Good Governance Issues Report On Criminal Background Of Corporators
Ahead of the much anticipated Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation(GHMC), the report issued by the Forum for Good Governance on the criminal cases filed against the Corporators made many heads turn.
According to the report, in the previous GHMC elections, as many as 72 Corporators with criminal background have contested the elections, while 30 serving GHMC Corporators have criminal cases against them.
The Forum for Good Governance even urged to not give tickets for people who have a criminal background in the upcoming Civic body polls.
Out of the 72 members who contested the GHMC polls in 2016, 14 members from TRS, followed by TDP and Congress with 13 each and AIMIM(11), Independents(11), MBT have a criminal case, the report said.
It's interesting to know whether the Election Commission will consider the recommendations of the Forum for Good Governance and restrict the people with criminal background from contesting the polls.
Well to know if the people with a criminal background will be kept away from the GHMC polls are not, we may have to wait for a few more days.
